Been into a little bit harder training just recently. Figured out a more advantageous routine but still not as regular as I would like. Actually I should be doing it NOW instead of this.
I wentback over to Bunyaville yesterday afternoon and caought up with the same guys plus an A Grade rider. They were going a litle easier which was a good thing. I can't ride all the fire roads over there and walked about 4 climbs but the single track I can ride.. It's designed differently and allows for less steep inclines where a fire road will just go straight down the hill.
My legs knew they had done some work and I feel pretty good today but sleep escaped me overnight.
To the left here I have added something called Strava, it's a training tool I guess, shows the rides I have done lately and keeps a track of my times on certain trails or rides. It's a 98% toss pot factor but if I can figure out who else is riding similar style and bike I can gain a measurement of how I am improving.
I am highly doubtful of getting to the NZ SS Champs this Anzac day now. I am still without a job currently and it's tougher than I thought it would be.. Depression is starting to nip at my heels. I'm nearly out of money and it's dragging Mrs HBR down as well.
I have entered a few short course races this month just to figure how I am going. I ran in Bgrade out at Adare, near Gatton, came about 32 of 38. Underwood Park at Rochedale, came 32 of 40, that was in C Grade. This weekend I will be out at Walloon, near Amberly, and have entered C Grade. They are a different series but the grading system has me buggered. A Grade were averaging about 22 kmh, B Grade just under 19 for the Adare race. At Underwood A Grade was just over 22, B Grade just over 19 and C Grade just under 18kmh. There was a D Grade at Underwood but I failed to look at those results.
I am going to try to change my gear ratio for the next two races.. make it a little easier. I know I can keep up with most on the down hills and single track but the longer grinding up hill seems to have me a little buggered. If I use a larger rear sprocket it should make the climb slightly easier, I will lose some flat top end but I reckon only about 2kmh at 100 RPM cadence.
This decison comes from me being only averaging about 14kmh in these races. I think I know where I am losing it so if I can stay on top of the gears and spin up the hills a little more I think I can get that average up a little without losing along the flats.
We will see, I have ordered a sprocket but don't know if they have them or if they are available.
No pictures this week but there is the new widget thing over there<--
Let you know what happens.
